Zhaojun Great River in 1.3.1: stabilize early, choose level 4 or a tier-5
If you are losing early and your frontline or totems are likely to fall, stay at level 4 and buy or awaken units that can stabilize the next fight. Do not keep losing health just to rush level 5. Level up for the carry only when your health, bench, and current board can survive the transition. Level 4 is an upgrade stage; tier 5 is a hero-card tier. Zhaojun can freeze one hero and, after combat, randomly turn it into a hero one tier higher that inherits its level. This can lead to a tier-5 card, but the result is not targeted. Version 1.3.1 raised Iceheart Field’s round-start level gain for all allied heroes from 30% to 35% of the total hero tiers on the board; that growth does not guarantee the current fight.
Separate upgrade stage from hero tier
- The official Sep 24 version 1.3.1 notice says Zhaojun’s Iceheart Field grants levels to all allied heroes at round start based on the total hero tiers on the board. Its coefficient rose from 30% to 35%. This improves growth; it does not directly stabilize a weak board or protect totems.
- “Level 4” refers to the upgrade stage; “tier 5” refers to a hero card. Zhaojun’s Ice of Heart freezes a chosen hero; after combat, it randomly becomes a hero one tier higher and inherits its level. Freezing can create a tier-5 card, but the result is random. Check the live card text.
Stabilize at level 4 when the frontline or totems fall
- If losses are mounting or the frontline and totems fall quickly, buy strength you can field now and awaken an existing unit when useful. Check whether Consort Yu and the totem growth effects actually trigger, then inspect frontline durability, equipment, and placement. Waiting for Zhaojun’s round-start growth may not reverse immediate health loss.
- In a Sep 27 Douyin reply, the creator reports taking damage when fielding one fewer unit early, and recommends Consort Yu with totems and staying at level 4 under pressure. Treat this as player experience to check against your own board, not a fixed round or health threshold.
Level when the board can carry the transition
- When your health, available replacements, and current lineup can carry the transition, level up and search for the core. If the level-4 board can hold, do not spend all your energy just to level. Freezing offers a random one-tier conversion; judge it by the hero you have and the tier you need, without expecting a specific card.
