High-level carry, still losing? Check four combat mechanics first

The short answer

Level is a clue, not a verdict. Separate temporary from permanent levels, then review death triggers, highest-level targeting, skill target selection, and reflected damage. Count a mechanic only if its card or item was in that match. The two linked player posts show the question; their details could not be verified, so this guide does not diagnose those games.

Check these four mechanics first

  • 1. Where the levels came from: when an allied hero with Sacrifice dies, a fielded Li Xin gains 7 temporary levels, or 14 when awakened. Temporary levels clear after combat. At level 100, Li Xin can perfectly revive in berserk form after he dies. Tie each level change to its triggering death; do not count temporary gains as permanent growth.
  • 2. Who a highest-level effect can select: Hai Yue’s Sacrifice triggers on her death, controlling the enemy’s highest-level hero for 4 seconds and dealing true damage equal to her HP, or 150% of her HP when awakened. If Pre-Battle Challenge is in the match, the two highest-level heroes are compared at combat start: the winning side’s hero gets one Perfect Revival; the losing hero turns into a pig for 3 seconds and gains a shield equal to 30% of max HP. Record Hai Yue’s death trigger separately from the opening contest, and skip either check if its card is absent.
  • 3. Who the carry actually attacks: Ying Zheng gains 7 magic attack at Engage, and each Tactical card used increases that bonus; the awakened Engage bonus is 14. His skill locks the nearest enemy and sends 80 swords for 5 seconds. If no enemy is on the current path, he immediately turns to the next target. A high level does not make the skill prioritize the enemy carry; check the nearest target at cast time and follow the actual path.
  • 4. Whether damage was reflected by equipment: the unique Reflective Heavy Armor returns 30% of damage taken to the attacker as true damage. Count it only after confirming that an enemy hero actually wore it and the replay shows the reflected damage. If the item was absent, rule this out.

Replay the timeline instead of guessing from the level gap

  • Confirm the replay version, both boards, effect cards, and equipment. Mark whether Li Xin, Hai Yue, Ying Zheng, or Reflective Heavy Armor actually took part in this fight.
  • Start before combat: record both sides’ levels and whether they are temporary or permanent. Timestamp each death, level jump, control effect, revival, and pig transformation. Separate opening effects from in-combat triggers.
  • When Ying Zheng casts, note the nearest enemy, sword path, and any target switch. Check whether the high-level hero was simply farther away or outside the current path.
  • Finally, check item ownership and the damage log: identify who dealt reflected damage and who received it. Mark the cause unconfirmed when the replay does not show enough evidence.

Replay notes checklist

  • Patch and round | heroes on both boards | pre-combat levels and temporary/permanent status | awakening | relevant effect cards | items and holders | death and trigger timestamps | Hai Yue’s control target | Pre-Battle Challenge result | Ying Zheng’s nearest target and sword path | reflected damage source and amount | first unit to fall and match result.

Version and evidence limits

  • Values use official card fields cached on Sep 27, 2026 and linked card images, with the v260917 player wiki as a secondary cross-check. That wiki is community maintained, not official. The older Tencent card-detail pages are currently inaccessible; check the live card in your client, especially after a later patch. English card names are editorial translations; use the Chinese in-client card as the reference.
  • The official version 1.3.1 notice was published on Sep 24, 2026 and sets this page’s version boundary. The two TapTap posts mention a level-688 Li Xin losing to level 314 and a Ying Zheng final-round matchup. They are included only as examples of player questions; the posts could not be opened for this review, and no replay, lineup, or equipment was verified.
  • This is a verification checklist, not a guarantee, win-rate claim, or verdict on a specific match. Without a replay, these mechanics remain leads to check.
